Job summary

The State of Michigan, through MDOT, is offering several limited-term Transportation Maintenance Worker positions in Lenawee and Monroe counties for the winter season (November–April). Full-time hours apply, with duties including surface, roadside and winter maintenance, operating trucks and equipment, and regional travel within the district.

Depending on education and experience, candidates may be placed at different levels (6, 7, or E8).

Qualifications

• Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
• Transportation Maintenance Worker 6 – No specific experience required.
• Transportation Maintenance Worker 7 – 1 year exp; similar to 6 or Laborer E6.
• Transportation Maintenance Worker E8 – 2 years exp; includes 1 year at 7 or skilled trades at E9.
• Must possess a CDL at time of hire.
• Some positions may require a Commercial Pesticide Applicators license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state trunk lines within the right of way; operate equipment.
• Perform surface, roadside, winter maintenance activities; team-based work.
• Travel to assigned work areas within the region as needed.
