Job summary

Travel to various sites with overnight stays and shifts including afternoons, nights, and weekends is expected. Salary reflects entry (6) through experienced (E8) levels; candidates are placed based on education and experience.

Qualifications

• Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
• No specific type or amount of experience required for Transportation Maintenance Worker 6.
• One year of experience required for Transportation Maintenance Worker 7 with roadway/bridge maintenance exposure.
• Two years of experience required for Transportation Maintenance Worker E8; include one year at 7 or one year of skilled trades at E9.
• Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state trunk lines, structures, and right-of-ways; perform surface and roadside maintenance and winter maintenance.
• Operate various equipment and participate in the Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) work element program.
• Travel to work sites throughout the region, including overnight travel; may involve afternoon, night, and weekend shifts with overtime.
• May require pesticide applicator license in compliance with the Pesticide Control Act of 1976.
