Job summary

The State of Michigan's MDOT Transportation Maintenance Worker program seeks personnel to maintain trunklines, operate heavy equipment, and support winter maintenance across the Grand Region. Positions require CDL Group A with N or X endorsements within 12 months of hire and involve travel with a regional crew.

Education typically requires a high school diploma; candidates may be recruited at various levels (Recruit, 6, 7, E8) based on qualifications and experience. Drug testing may be required.

Qualifications

• Commercial Learner’s Permit may be required at appointment.
• CDL Group A with N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state trunklines within the right-of-way for the Grand Region.
• Operate heavy equipment used in roadway, bridge, forestry, sign, and winter maintenance.
• Travel with a crew in the assigned geographic area as part of MDOT TMW work element.
• Perform winter maintenance duties as assigned region-wide.
