Job summary

The State of Michigan in Lansing is seeking to fill several limited-term Winter Maintenance positions that may last Oct–Apr. These roles will work full-time hours during the assignment and support MDOT Transportation Maintenance operations, including roadways, bridges, forestry, signs and winter activities.

Duties include operating heavy vehicles with GVWR 26,001 lb or more, traveling with a crew, and completing the MDOT TMW work element training.

Qualifications

• CDL required at appointment; Group A with N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions must be obtained within 12 months.
• MDOT TMW training/certification required for E8 level.
• Experience expectations vary by level 6/7/E8 as described in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state trunklines within the right-of-way and operate equipment for road, bridge, forestry, sign and winter maintenance.
• Travel with a crew in the assigned geographic area and participate in winter duties region-wide as needed.
• Operate vehicles with GVWR 26,001 lb or more during maintenance activities.
