Job summary

State of Ohio in District Six is hiring for a Winter Seasonal Highway Technician I to support Delaware, Franklin, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway and Union counties.

The role is part-time and focuses on snow and ice operations, fleet readiness, and related road maintenance tasks across District 6. Successful candidates will assist with traffic control and roadside maintenance during winter conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License at the appropriate level to operate motorized equipment.
• Overtime eligible based on FLSA standards.
• Criminal background check and urinalysis required.
• Sponsorship for an employment visa is not available.

Responsibilities

• Snow and Ice duties on the roadway 8-12 hours, fleet readiness inspections and washing of Snow & Ice Equipment, greasing equipment used for snow and ice, blade changing.
• General facilities maintenance.
• Pothole patching and roadway remediation crew duties.
• Assist with sign installation along 2, 4 and multi-lane routes.
• Operate articulated loader to load single and tandem axle dump trucks for snow and ice operations.
• Assist with the maintenance of traffic for roadway emergencies.
• Highway beautification and litter removal when needed.
