Job summary

State of Nebraska is hiring Winter Maintenance Workers for Lincoln & surrounding areas. This is a temporary, winter-season role performing snow removal, heavy equipment operation, and related highway maintenance duties to keep roads safe.

Minimum 18 years old with a valid driver’s license; CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements preferred within 60 days. Pay starts at $20.39/hour, CDL holders at $21.953/hour; overtime may apply depending on weather and needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
• Possession of Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements is required within 60 days of employment.
• Preferred: a valid CDL and experience operating heavy equipment.
• May require out-of-town, overnight travel. Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Help with Winter Operations.
• Perform snow removal.
• Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Move, load, and unload equipment, materials and supplies from the roadway.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Other duties as assigned.
