Job summary

State of Indiana, via the Indiana Department of Transportation, seeks a Seasonal Winter Maintenance Worker for the Evansville area. You will support highway maintenance, snow and ice removal, and fleet tasks while operating required equipment.

Applicants must hold a valid CDL (A/B), a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a drug test. Expect winter shift hours and potential overtime, with opportunities for retention bonuses and sign-on incentives.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Required to submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Must be able to move 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Must be able to work long hours in inclement winter weather.
• Able to operate specialty traffic equipment (e.g. bucket trucks, paint equipment).
• Must be able to work as part of a team and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain highways and right-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Emergency response: cleanup, traffic control, lane closures, signage, barricades.
• Perform equipment maintenance: minor repairs, preventive maintenance, refueling, inspections.
• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Perform miscellaneous labor tasks.
• Document work in the Work Management System (WMS).
