Job summary

State of Indiana’s Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) seeks Seasonal Winter Maintenance Workers in the Tell City area. A CDL is required. Duties include snow/ice removal, traffic control, and basic maintenance on highways.

Pay is $21.00 per hour, with potential bonuses for start and retention, and interviews are held at the Tell City sub-district. The position is seasonal (up to 180 days) within INDOT’s Tell City district, offering a pathway to steady winter operations work and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must possess and maintain a Class A or Class B CDL (CDL).
• Drug test required as a condition of employment.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must perform physical activities and work in varied weather.
• Ability to operate basic highway maintenance equipment.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Must be able to work irregular hours for winter operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain and repair highways and right-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Conduct winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Respond to emergencies: cleanup, traffic control, signs, barricades.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance and inspections.
• Complete job documentation in the Work Management System (WMS).
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
