Job summary

State of Indiana through INDOT is hiring for seasonal winter maintenance workers in the Wabash Subdistrict. You will operate snow plows and traffic equipment, perform highway maintenance, and respond to incidents to keep Hoosier roads safe.

A CDL is required, with a competitive hourly rate and a sign-on/retention bonus program. Interviews are open, with adherence to safety and drug-testing requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess and maintain a Class A or Class B CDL.
• Required to submit to and pass a drug test.
• Must be able to move 50 pounds.
• Must perform physical activities for long periods.
• Must endure inclement weather.
• Must operate specialty traffic equipment.
• Must follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Must work irregular hours for winter operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain roads.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Emergency response tasks such as traffic control and signs.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance and inspections.
• Document activities in the Work Management System (WMS).
