Job summary

The Kroger Co. in Michigan is seeking a Wine Department Associate to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a safe, clean store environment. You will support sales goals, know wine varieties, and assist customers with pairing and recommendations.

You will promote a welcoming atmosphere, answer product questions, and participate in wine tastings and specials while upholding Kroger's values of respect and safety.

Qualifications

• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).
• Knowledge of imported and domestic varieties, the flavor profiles and how they are made.
• Knowledge of industry trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to the consumer.
• Experience working with wine and beer.
• Retail experience.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Pass wine test once employed.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Offer product samples in line with guidelines and laws to help customers discover items.
• Inform customers of wine specials and provide requested products.
• Recommend wine items to ensure customers get what they want and need.
• Assist customers with wine pairings with meat, cheeses, and desserts.
• Collaborate with store chef for wine tastings and related programs.
• Stay current with ads and ensure proper temperature controls are maintained.
