Job summary

M. A. Mortenson Company is seeking a millwright for the Highland Repower Wind Project in Primghar, IA. The role involves dismantling, erecting, assembling, aligning, adjusting, and maintaining machinery per installation manuals, drawings, and work instructions.

The position requires reading blueprints, following safety procedures, and collaborating across teams to ensure efficient erection and commissioning of wind turbine components.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of related experience.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, assembly/disassembly, operation and maintenance instructions; strong teamwork and professional customer service skills.
• Detail-oriented with active listening and effective communication; open to diverse input and feedback.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs.
• The duties may change without notice.

Responsibilities

• Receive and offload major components.
• Install loose components for nacelle, hub, and tower preparation.
• Connect blades to hub.
• Set base and tower sections.
• Handle taglines.
• Assist with main erection crane assembly and teardown.
• Climb ladders (average 80m).
• Drill and/or tap holes on turbines, generators, compressors, and pumps.
• Torque/tension bolted connections.
• Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
