Job summary

Nordex Group is seeking a Commissioning Specialist to test, analyze, and troubleshoot wind turbines during commissioning. You will identify defects and perform repairs, with travel to project sites and strong emphasis on safety and quality.

The role requires engineering or technical wind energy education, hands-on experience, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, diverse environment. Expect 70–90% travel and on-site work at wind farm locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred or a 2-year technical degree in Wind Energy.
• Technical two-year college degree or a minimum of two years of electrical trade experience.
• 1–2 years of comparable experience and training in the wind industry.
• Knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fiber optics, their function, and repair wind turbines Nordex and Acciona technologies.
• Competent in switching various types of switchgear.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems independently with a high level of results orientation.

Responsibilities

• Commissions and ensures the functionality of Nordex wind turbines using a series of documented policies and procedures.
• Connects the wind turbine to the remote surveillance system for functionality testing.
• Conducts independent fault analysis and eliminates possible issues to find the root cause.
• Tests the electrical and mechanical protectors.
• Eliminates, independently, minor faults.
• Retrofits turbine following approved work instructions.
• Documents and reports technical problems, faults, component defects, daily activities, and other performance data on time and per company procedures.
• Inventories and identifies spare parts and other materials needed and initiates the procurement process by coordinating with the site manager.
