Job summary

Midland Garage Door is seeking a Test & Controls Technician to drive wind-load testing and later support factory controls across West Fargo and Salt Lake City facilities. The role begins with accreditation of test equipment and testing procedures, then expands to engineering support and automation projects.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with PLCs, Allen-Bradley hardware, robotics and electrical diagrams, plus a practical manufacturing background.

Qualifications

• Experience with test equipment calibration and documentation is a plus.
• Proven ability to work across multiple facilities and coordinate with production teams.
• Familiarity with wind load testing or DASMA 108 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Phase 1: achieve test facility accreditation for wind test equipment.
• Coordinate test specimen fabrication with production teams at two facilities.
• Set up and operate structural test equipment with transducers and data acquisition.
• Run positive/negative pressure tests, record data in real time.
• Prepare complete test reports for PE review and state filing.
• Coordinate with PE for report review and seal; file with authorities.
• Maintain organized test records for each model and pressure tier.
• Phase 2: support controls, back up PLC programs and document control logic.
• Modernize aging PLCs and document electrical schematics.
• Audit wiring and assist with ERP-to-automation integration.
• Diagnose issues across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct engineering tests to verify system performance.
