Wegner CPAs is partnering with a client in the Madison area to hire a Controls Engineer responsible for creating, reviewing, and testing machine code that drives automated manufacturing cells. You'll collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure seamless integration of code with hardware and production workflows.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, flow-chart design, and ensuring equipment meets specifications.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years' experience programming ladder logic or structured text.
• Experience using Git version control.
• Degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or related field.
• Understanding of how to define and test technical requirements.
• Comfortable working around machines, tools, and shop environments.
• Curiosity, ownership, and pride in work that runs in production.

Responsibilities

• Design flow charts covering normal operation and error handling.
• Review and write code to make sure it functions before being run on the machine.
• Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams to synchronize hardware and software.
• Test the machines to ensure the machine meets requirements.
