Job summary

EDP Renewables North America is seeking an entry-level Wind Technician I to support on-site wind energy generation sites. You will perform maintenance, inspections, and safe equipment operation, including LOTO procedures, documentation, and training participation.

Ideal candidate has a high school diploma (technical school preferred), basic mechanical skills, and a willingness to travel up to 10%. You will work with a team to ensure reliable plant performance and environmental safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school education preferred.
• Strong mechanical background, gearing-related.
• 1–2 years relevant experience in wind energy or a related industry (preferred).
• Understanding of Microsoft products and complementing products.
• Experience with power plant operations and maintenance, wind plant operations and turbines; includes turbine converters (preferred).
• Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment and with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance (preferred).
• Proficient knowledge of SQL Server software, facility management, reporting systems, and computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools (preferred).
• Willingness and ability to pass a background investigation and drug test.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of wind turbines and associated equipment including substation and tower switchgear.
• Proactively look for improvement opportunities to processes and communicate or implement improvements using the proper protocol.
• Identify gaps in safety standards and risks, implement mitigation and provide recommendations to staff and management.
• Demonstrate integrity, initiative, and teamwork; comply with environmental health and safety programs.
