Job summary

GE Vernova in Illinois is seeking a Wind Technician to maintain turbine operations, safety, and warranty repairs at multiple wind sites within the hub. You will work closely with Site Lead and Manager to fulfil contract requirements and timelines.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting of mechanical/hydraulic/electrical issues, and accurate documentation of work. Expect daily site travel and a rotating shift schedule with on-site safety emphasis.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 1 year Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic experience or completion of Wind Certificate Program/Associates Degree in Energy, or minimum 2 years of electrical work experience.
• Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
• Basic computer skills and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Work with site & hub leadership to meet customer obligations and daily activities for electrical and mechanical equipment in GE wind turbines.
• Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines.
• Assist in all site operations with safety as a priority, with minimal supervision.
• Perform diagnostic electrical analysis and document all work using service reporting procedures.
• Coordinate with GE’s remote operations center when needed.
