Job summary

NextEra Energy is seeking a Wind Field Service Technician – Major Component to support fleet-wide maintenance of wind turbine generators. Travel is extensive and requires working at heights. The role emphasizes safety, rigging, and precise mechanical/electrical work.

Candidates will perform crane-assisted component replacements, coordinate with crane operators, and comply with outage schedules. High-stress, fast-paced environments and variable hours are inherent to this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with technical aptitude.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills for industrial equipment maintenance.
• Experience with challenging environments and complex repairs.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively across the fleet with short notice.
• Perform major component replacements on wind turbine generators.
• Execute precision mechanical work and torque/alignment checks.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on wind systems.
• Work safely at heights and assist crane operations during lifts.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and facilities; adhere to QI processes.
• Provide safety oversight and mentor others when required.
