Job summary

NextEra Energy is seeking a Wind Field Service Technician – Major Component to travel across the fleet performing major component replacements on wind turbine generators, including gearboxes and blades, at heights above 300 feet.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, rigging knowledge, safety leadership, and a willingness to travel with weekend/night hours and extended shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Grad / GED required.
• 1.5+ years in a technical field or completion of a technical certificate/degree program.
• Valid Driver's License (NON CDL).
• Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet.
• Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively with little advance notice across the fleet.
• Perform maintenance and major component replacements on wind turbine generators (gearboxes, generators, bearings, blades).
• Execute precise mechanical work: torquing, alignment, fastener verification.
• Perform advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on wind turbine systems.
• Work safely at heights >300 feet with fall protection.
• Direct crane movements and apply rigging principles.
• Operate under time-sensitive conditions driven by wind and outage schedules.
• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
• Apply Quality Improvement processes.
• Provide safety oversight and mentor others as required.
• Promote a strong safety culture and stop-work when unsafe.
• Meet attendance and availability requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
