Job Description

As a Wind Farm Technician Associate, you support the overall operations and maintenance of wind farms and related facilities to ensure safety and maximize availability. Responsibilities include executing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, training, and safety exercises. You will maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles, provide technical guidance, and record service activities using digital management systems. Additionally, you'll help foster a strong work ethic and culture within the team.

Responsibilities

1. Perform all operation and maintenance activities safely, following established policies and procedures.
2. Assist with testing systems and equipment post-maintenance or outages.
3. Support safety tasks and serve as backup at other sites as needed.
4. Contribute to turbine maintenance, including services, major component replacements, and troubleshooting.
5. Assist with Balance of Plant procedures, including substation and collection system maintenance.
6. Uphold company values and behaviors.
7. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree in Sciences or related field preferred.
• Technical degrees or certifications such as Journeyman, Master Electrician, or Wind Tech Certificate are advantageous.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
• Minimum 2 years in power generation, transmission, or distribution operations/maintenance, with wind turbine experience preferred.
• Experience with turbines from Vestas, GE, Acciona, Nordex preferred.
• Military technical experience in electrical, electronics, or mechanical fields is a plus.
• Willingness to relocate within 1 hour of the site.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, safety policies, and procedures.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines, independently, or as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and Teams.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical presentation skills.
• Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic drawings and perform energy isolation and LOTO procedures.
• Understanding of electromechanical systems, power electronics, and network protocols.
• Physical ability to climb towers, handle tools/equipment up to 50 lbs, and work in various environments.

Physical Requirements

• Must maintain a personal weight limit of 270 lbs.
• Must be able to climb wind towers daily and work in confined, swaying spaces.
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range in Illinois is $53,942 - $72,980, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Eligible employees may also participate in short-term incentives.
