Job Description: Enterprise Field Technician at BlueSky Resource Solutions

Position Summary:

Install, provision, test, troubleshoot, splice, and maintain high-speed fiber optic transmission equipment and telecommunications circuits supporting service delivery. Perform and assist with the maintenance and configuration of all core technologies deployed. Support reactive and proactive maintenance of Small Cell Networks. Responsibilities include resolving Reactive Maintenance tickets and completing Preventative Maintenance and Network Acceptance tasks.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work with Fiber Optic, SONET, Ethernet, and SDH test equipment, including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, BER Test Conduct, ensuring adherence to procedures and specifications.
  2. Coordinate with the Network Operations Center for acceptance and testing of new installations, including provisioning and alarm monitoring.
  3. Conduct site surveys to ensure quality installation, report defects, and support service to premises.
  4. Analyze and troubleshoot issues, assisting NOC/customer.
  5. Perform hardware/software updates on remote site equipment.
  6. Maintain electronic records of work performed.
  7. Interface with customers and carriers to support service delivery.
  8. Work independently for extended periods.
  9. Collaborate with NOC, Sales, Engineering, and customers.
  10. Respond to network outages and emergencies.
  11. Perform elevated inspections and repairs using bucket trucks.
  12. Operate RF and fiber test equipment such as PIM analyzers, spectrum analyzers, OTDR, fusion splicers, and power meters.
  13. Use web-based tools for administrative tasks.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • DOT/Bucket Truck certification preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of SONET, WDM, Ethernet networks, and testing equipment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quick learner of new software.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Ability to work independently and in dynamic environments.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Experience with web-based ticketing and network monitoring systems.

Working Conditions:

Work in public rights of way, exposed to weather, RF, and public. Physical demands include lifting up to 75 pounds, stooping, and ladder climbing. Travel required.

About the Role:

100% remote supporting North Florida, South Georgia, and Southeastern Mississippi. Daily travel to sites with provided bucket truck. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM EST.
