Job Description Summary:
Coordinates and performs visual, mechanical, electrical, and functional testing of BD instruments and infusion pumps using various written materials such as test protocols, test methods memos, and verbal instructions. Generates spreadsheets and reports to document test data. Oversees other technicians on large test efforts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Coordinate the use of supplies and equipment according to test plans.
- Ensure equipment is in good working order before testing (verification prior to use).
- Set up and operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as precision balances, environmental chambers, and data acquisition systems based on test plan details.
- Modify test setups, fixturing, and data collection sheets as needed to support testing.
- Evaluate test setups and processes when test results appear irregular.
- Monitor test progress, keep requestors informed, and coordinate/assign test activities to other technicians. Estimate time schedules.
- Proficient in computer applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP, and familiar with statistical calculations and graphical data representation.
- Maintain a clean, organized test area and keep accurate, detailed records of testing, including deviations from protocols or methods.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and regulations.
- Write clear and accurate test records and respond to engineer and manager inquiries.
- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Certificates, licenses, or registrations are not required.
- Preferred experience with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Follow and model good documentation and laboratory practices.
- Physical requirements include handling objects and tools, standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Work may involve exposure to cold and hot environments with safety precautions in place.
Requirements:
- Associate degree (A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Practical experience with Good Laboratory, Manufacturing, and Documentation Practices.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Associate degree or equivalent with five years of related experience or training.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with Engineering and other departments.
- Strong knowledge of Quality disciplines, including Good Laboratory Practice and Design Control.
