Clearway Energy Group is seeking a Senior Associate to serve as a Western market SME, developing views on Western US power markets and forecasting energy prices, RA/REC prices, and curtailment risk. You will enhance power market modeling, supporting project development, M&A, and hedging risk management, with responsibilities across short- and long-term analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable in a quantitative field.
• Minimum of 4 years in an analytical role in energy trading, banking, IPP, ISO, or utility.
• Experience in power market modeling and capacity expansion; knowledge of CAISO, WECC BAS, WECC market expansion.
• 3+ years with production cost modeling tools (Aurora, PROMOD, PLEXOS, Encompass).
• Ability to articulate viewpoints clearly in writing and verbally.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver high-quality results on time.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with data mining and large datasets.

Responsabilités

• Update fundamental information on transmission upgrades, load forecasts, generation buildout, and gas prices; form views on hub, RA, and REC prices and curtailment.
• Quantify market conditions and evaluate impact on operating assets.
• Provide analytical insights from modeling results to support risk management and trading decisions.
• Automate data flow within modeling ecosystems using AI, Python, SQL or Excel.
• Lead and support long-term market model development across Western US markets.
• Follow regulatory updates, IRPs, RPS goals, transmission plans, and gas markets for inputs.
• Validate external studies to support project financing.
• Maintain input/output datasets for long-term models.
