Job summary

Capital Power is seeking a Senior Specialist in Energy Markets to provide expert analysis and market insight for investment, asset management, commercial, and trading decisions across North America. You will forecast prices, project asset gross margins, and support long-term planning and valuations.

Reporting to the Head of Energy Markets, you will lead modeling efforts, manage external consultants, and present findings to senior leadership, while tracking regulatory developments and building

Qualifications

• Degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Commerce.
• Master’s degree or professional designation (or progress toward one) is an asset.
• 5+ years of experience in North American power and gas markets.
• Demonstrated experience forecasting wholesale electricity prices and asset revenues.
• Previous experience in ISO's (e.g. MISO, PJM, ISONE, IESO, NYISO) is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Owning long-term fundamental power market forecasts for assigned regions.
• Reviewing key market assumptions including supply, demand, fuel prices, emissions pricing, and CONE.
• Leading asset-level gross margin projections, dispatch modeling, and financial proformas.
• Supporting business development with price forecasts, dispatch analysis, and due diligence for new investments.
• Providing strategic market insights to Commercial and Supply & Trading teams.
