Job summary

Clearway Energy Group is seeking an Associate, Project Development to support and directly manage the development of renewable energy projects across the West region, including California, Hawaii and the Desert Southwest.

You will work with Business Development, Origination, Engineering, Project Finance and Construction teams through siting, permitting, interconnection, contracting, financing and handover to construction to deliver projects to commercial operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, environmental science, or a related field.
• Understanding and ability to navigate complex permitting pathways for energy projects in the western United States.
• Ability to travel as required to projects within Clearway’s West Region (>25%).
• Minimum of 2 years of renewable energy project development experience in the U.S.
• Experience with land development elements: landowner engagement, title resolution, surveys, GIS, and related real estate aspects.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support development of large-scale renewable projects from proposal to handover to construction.
• Identify and implement development approaches to reduce permitting risk and optimize schedules.
• Support due diligence on development-stage projects and portfolio acquisitions.
• Administer development services agreements and coordinate with local/regional development partners.
• Collaborate with Land Acquisition to secure site control for interconnection facilities.
• Work with engineering and external consultants to evaluate layouts, technology options, interconnection studies, and schedules.
• Coordinate interconnection requests, load-flow and congestion studies, and transmission requirements.
• Assist in negotiating PPAs, GIAs, turbine supply and EPC contracts.
• Support financing diligence for cash equity, tax equity and/or debt commitments.
• Coordinate with Origination on marketing development-stage projects and responding to RFPs.
• Create and manage project budgets and stage-gate investment materials.
• Present development opportunities to management and maintain industry relationships.
