Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Vice President of Transmission Projects - West to lead a portfolio of major capital projects with budgets up to $5 billion. You will drive safety, planning, execution, and financial accountability across Tulsa, OK, or TX sites, coordinating with internal teams, external customers, consultants, and vendors.

The role requires extensive leadership experience, a strong background in large-scale construction and project controls, and a track record of delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or business-related field with fifteen (15) years of qualified experience.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of qualified experience, with at least eight (8) years supervising others, including work in two or more of the following areas: major construction projects, project management, commissioning, project controls, fossil plant operations, and labor negotiations.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversee policies, practices, procedures, and programs designed to achieve company objectives.
• Direct an effective project management organization through proper scoping, planning, budgeting, and performance metric reporting.
• Develop partnerships with Operations, Engineering Services, Environmental Services, Energy Services, A/E firms and OEMs for long-range planning, scheduling, permitting, licensing, procurement, and construction.
• Direct and reinforce safety programs to assure a Zero Harm environment.
• Direct, monitor and control budgets, schedules, cash flows, and capital expenditures for environmental projects.
• Provide leadership for Transmission vision, strategy and Continuous Improvement.
• Mentor and develop subordinate Project Directors and Project Managers.
• Manage long-range budget and forecast development and change management.
