Job summary

American Electric Power in New Albany, OH seeks a senior project executive to lead large transmission initiatives with budgets from $1B to $10B. You will own end-to-end delivery, safety, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder alignment, guiding cross-functional teams and contractors to successful outcomes.

You will report to Transmission leadership, shape contracting, and manage risk and change across multiple workstreams while ensuring alignment with budget and schedule targets, and supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, PM, Accounting, or related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in major construction, project management, portfolio management, commissioning, contract negotiations.
• Progressive levels of responsibility with strong leadership and business acumen.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee overall project execution to complete assigned projects.
• Implement and oversee safety program to achieve Zero Harm.
• Report on project strategy, needs and budgets to Transmission Executive leadership.
• Establish contracting strategy and negotiate EPC and engineering agreements.
• Lead governance with JV partners as required.
• Manage integrated schedule across all workstreams and resources.
• Oversee program budget and contingencies to meet targets.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead change management and resolve disputes.
• Mentor and develop project leadership team.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with utilities, regulators and landowners.
• Ensure readiness for regulatory filings and hearings and approvals.
• Staffing management of employees, staff augmentation, and consultants/vendors.
• Oversee construction to deliver project safely, on schedule and within budget.
• Understand technical solutions relevant to project work to drive solutions.
