Job summary

Vertex is seeking an Area Director, Strategic Accounts for the US Pain Business Unit to lead the Strategic Accounts Team serving large health systems in the Western US and to drive adoption of Journavx, an oral NaV1.8 inhibitor for acute pain. You will build deep relationships with IDNs and payer decision-makers to expand product access and utilization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals or equivalent.
• 10+ years in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals with market access/strategic accounts experience.
• 3+ years in supervisory/management roles and 5+ years in IDN account management.

Responsibilities

• Lead Strategic Account Management team in the Western US and secure advocacy and product access.
• Partner with SALs to develop strategic business plans, tactics and metrics.
• Collaborate with commercial sales to execute pull-through tactics for Health Systems.
• Engage with Health System leadership and stakeholders to drive Journavx adoption.
• Coordinate account activities across matrix teams while ensuring compliance.
• Monitor performance and provide direction to optimize execution.
• Model ethics and integrity within Vertex culture and external interactions.
