Job summary

Vertex is seeking an experienced Area Director, Strategic Accounts to lead the Western US strategic accounts team and drive Journavx adoption across health systems.

The role requires 10+ years in healthcare/biopharma, 3+ years of supervisory experience, and deep IDN/health system relationships. Bachelor's degree required; strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 10+ years of healthcare/biopharmaceuticals experience in market access, strategic accounts, sales, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of supervisory/management experience.
• 5+ years of strategic account management with IDNs/Health Systems; deep relationships at top IDNs.
• Experience in Acute/ Ambulatory Care, Pain Management, or Medical Device with GPO pull-through.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Strategic Account Management team in the Western US, securing advocacy and product access.
• Partner with SALs to establish strategic plans, tactics and performance metrics for Journavx adoption across service lines.
• Collaborate with commercial sales to execute pull-through strategies with Health Systems.
• Engage with Health System leadership, pharmacy teams, formulary decision makers, and population health stakeholders to drive uptake.
• Coordinate engagement across internal matrix teams (regional leaders, account managers, HEOR, medical, marketings, and virtual sales).
• Monitor performance and provide feedback to optimize execution and compliance.
• Model ethics and integrity to uphold Vertex values and trust with stakeholders.
