Job summary

Vertex is seeking an experienced Area Director, Strategic Accounts to lead the Western US strategic accounts team in driving Journavx adoption across health systems. The role requires deep IDN knowledge, senior leadership, and a proven track record in market access and contracting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 10+ years of experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals in market access, strategic accounts, sales, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of supervisory/management experience; 5+ years in account management with IDNs and health systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Strategic Account Management team in the Western US, including advocacy, product access, and developing a high-performing team.
• Partner with Strategic Account Leaders to establish strategic plans, tactics and performance metrics to achieve goals and expand Journavx use.
• Collaborate with the commercial sales organization to execute pull-through tactics across health systems and align with Vertex values.
• Engage and expand relationships across health systems leadership, pharmacy teams, formulary decision-makers, and population health stakeholders to ensure Journavx adoption.
• Coordinate account engagement across the internal matrix team including regional leaders, account managers, payer directors, HEOR, medical, and marketing teams.
• Monitor area and account performance, provide feedback, and share best practices to ensure consistent execution.
• Model ethics and integrity to support a culture of compliance and trust with external stakeholders.
