Job summary

SMART Photonics is seeking a USA-based Sales Director to lead the commercial effort with our US team. You will drive pipeline, manage complex deep-tech B2B negotiations, and close strategic deals in photonics and semiconductor markets.

Based on the West Coast, you will build relationships with key accounts, coordinate with engineering and operations, and travel up to 25% to engage with customers and industry partners. Remote-friendly with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Proven track record closing high-value B2B semiconductor deals.
• Experience in photonics, semiconductors, telecom, or datacom.
• Experience supporting market entry or regional expansion.
• Familiarity with foundry business models or integrated photonics ecosystems.
• Strong network in the West Coast optical/datacom ecosystem.
• Ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders.
• Commercial drive and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication style bridging cultures and seniority levels.

Responsibilities

• Drive new business growth across USA (West Coast aligned with strategy).
• Identify opportunities in AI, optical networking, datacom, telecom, sensing, and photonics.
• Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities.
• Build strategic, long-term relationships with key accounts.
• Lead commercial discussions from first contact to contract signature.
• Manage complex sales cycles in deep-tech, photonics, and semiconductors.
• Coordinate with global and local teams to align requirements with roadmap and manufacturing.
• Represent SMART Photonics at customer meetings and industry events (up to 25% travel).
• Act as primary commercial interface for West & North American customers.
• Support recruitment and leadership of local commercial resources.
