Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a Wellness Director in Plainville, CT to lead wellness staff and oversee health and wellness programs. You will supervise personal training, group fitness, healthy living initiatives, and youth conditioning programs, while managing wellness floor operations and program budgets.

This exempt, full-time role focuses on delivering a superior member experience, increasing member engagement, and driving program revenue in a mid-sized wellness environment.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in exercise science or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in wellness programming, with at least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain current certification from a national accredited organization in personal training, group exercise or similar discipline.
• Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administration.
• Must understand how to build relationships and have strong interpersonal skills.
• Have the ability to lead a strong staff team that is focused on creating a welcoming environment and providing a superior member experience for all members, at all times.
• Must have a proven track record and a passion for exercise, nutrition, healthy living and helping others live a healthier lifestyle.
• Highly motivated with the consistent ability to meet/exceed goals.
• Self-driven with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
• Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Lead center wellness staff in all member connection and retention initiatives related to the wellness center and programming.
• Manage day-to-day operations of health and wellness programs and wellness floor operations.
• Provide direct leadership for personal training, group training, group exercise, healthy living programs, youth conditioning programs, and wellness staff.
• Supervise and develop wellness staff to deliver high-quality service and member experience.
• Oversee wellness-related financials, relationship building, and staff supervision.
• Drive member satisfaction and retention through a continuous improvement model.
