Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead safe, effective classes and promote total fitness for members. Under the Wellness Director, you will greet members by name, reinforce the YMCA's values, and ensure the mission and image are conveyed.

We seek candidates with CPR certification and a national or YMCA fitness certification, plus at least one year of group fitness teaching experience. Excellent teamwork and dependability are essential.

Qualifications

• CPR certification is required.
• National/group fitness instruction certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
• Certification in specialty areas of expertise is required.
• At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead group exercise classes according to YMCA program guidelines and class format.
• Seek ongoing training in health and fitness.
• Supervise participants to ensure safety and report issues to supervisor.
• Distribute handouts and announcements to participants as assigned.
• Greet new members and educate them on YMCA programs.
• Maintain knowledge of branch programs and share information with members.
