Job summary

The Arc of Central Alabama is seeking a Wellness Office Nurse to provide skilled nursing support from a central office for individuals served with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the organization.

You will manage medication oversight, health documentation, and coordination tasks to support field-based nursing and direct-support staff, while remaining available to address health needs that arise, ensuring timely and compliant care behind the scenes of our community programs.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN or LPN license in Alabama.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain).
• Pass statewide/criminal background check with no disqualifying offenses.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and TB testing as required.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Review, process, and maintain physician orders, medication lists, and treatment plans.
• Coordinate with pharmacies and physicians on refills, changes, and clarifications.
• Support field-based staff with medication administration questions and delegation guidance.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and health records in the office system.
• Respond to health inquiries from staff, families, and people served.
• Assist in scheduling and coordinating health-related appointments with Health Service Coordinators.
• Monitor MARs for accuracy across program sites.
• Provide training and competency verification for staff performing delegated medication tasks.
• Identify and report critical incidents and any abuse/neglect per IPMS.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
