Job summary

La Montañita Co-op is seeking a Wellness Clerk to deliver excellent customer service in the Wellness Department. You will help customers choose products, share health information, and maintain a clean, safe shopping area.

You will process products, handle pricing and merchandising, stock shelves, and support store-wide safety initiatives. A high school diploma and food safety certification are required or obtainable within a month.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Customer service skills to complete the full service cycle.
• Effective communication with customers and team members.
• Food safety certification; if not currently certified, obtain within 1 month.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Adherence to safety, regulatory, and wellness guidelines; PPE usage required.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated.
• Strong team player with a friendly and patient demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Process, receive, and merchandise products following guidelines for merchandising, rotation, sanitation, pricing, and quality.
• Provide accurate health and nutritional information without prescribing products or therapies.
• Keep products visible and well stocked; respond to customer questions about produce and other items.
• Ensure department signage is accurate and attractive; maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
• Assist in inventory counts and store-wide cleaning or other projects as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to management.
