Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a Welding Inspector for a one-month contract in Cleveland, OH, with potential for extension. The role requires performing dimensional and visual inspections on metal parts, documenting results, and preparing detailed reports.

Qualified candidates will have AWS CWI or API 510, 5–10 years welding inspection experience, and demonstrable QA/vendor surveillance or shop inspection experience, including witnessing NDE tests and reviewing reports.

Qualifications

• At least AWS CWI or API 510 certification.
• 5–10 years of industrial welding inspection experience.
• 5 years of these in QA/vendor surveillance/shop inspections.
• Experience in oil & gas / power & utility / construction / manufacturing environments.
• Witnessing NDE tests (UT, PT, MT, RT, etc.) and verifying test reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections, visual inspections, and marking verifications on metal parts.
• Carry out the inspection personally.
• Use provided measurement tools (tape measures, calipers, gauges).
• Verify parts to drawings, measure, and document results.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and record non-conformities.
• Investigate non-conformities and assist with corrective actions.
• Communicate effectively with welders, engineers and other personnel.
