NACCO Industries, Inc. seeks a Welder / Maintenance Mechanic Intern in Underwood, ND for 3- or 8-month programs starting May 2027.

You’ll learn to operate boom trucks, welding trucks, forklifts, and support equipment while assisting with maintenance and repairs at a surface coal mine. Requirements include enrollment in an accredited welding or mechanical maintenance program, a valid driver’s license, ability to work outdoors in varying weather, and willingness to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in accredited welding or mechanical maintenance program and in good academic standing.
• Completed a portion of college in the associated field and intends to complete degree.
• Applicants need a valid driver’s license; able to work outdoors and rotate shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting, routine maintenance and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on draglines, coal shovels and facilities.
• Read and understand blueprints and fabricate parts from them.
• Work in compliance with MSHA, safety procedures and environmental regulations.
