Job summary

Altec in Osceola, IA seeks an assembler to prepare, assemble and install vehicle and chipper components to required specifications for Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Unit and Finish departments.

You will read schematics and blueprints, interpret work orders, use basic hand tools and tape measures, follow safety and quality policies, and learn to operate all equipment in the cell. You may cross-train and maintain daily time records and related paperwork.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend.
  • Basic computer usage knowledge required.
  • Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics.
  • State Certification (career readiness) desired.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, or manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Mastery of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to train new/current associates.
  • Maintain and complete documentation or paperwork.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To prepare, assemble and install vehicle and/or chipper components to required specifications for Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Unit and Finish departments.

Major Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret schematics (blueprints).
  • Read and interpret work orders.
  • Use basic hand tools such as tape measurer and specialty equipment.
  • Follow established safety and quality policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Learn and operate all equipment within the work area (cell).
  • Perform rework as required.
  • Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives. May participate in RCI events.
  • Willing to move to other work areas in order to support production needs. (Cross-train).
  • Maintain daily time records.
  • Install unit vehicle and/or chipper components and accessories.
  • Testing of installed components.
  • Mastery of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and trouble shooting skills.
  • Willingness and ability to train new/current associates.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Proficient knowledge of at least one of the following desired.
