Altec is seeking a procurement professional for our Mt. Airy, NC facility to manage purchasing of materials, equipment, and services on-site.

The role focuses on obtaining favorable terms, processing purchase orders, resolving shortages, and coordinating with suppliers and internal customers to meet schedule requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive supply chain experience, ERP and MS Office proficiency, and a track record of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 4-year degree preferred.
• External: 7 years applicable experience; Internal: 6 years with at least 2 years with Altec.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and supply chain concepts required.
• ERP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and approve purchase orders for inventoried items with unlimited expense amounts.
• Resolve shortages and communicate requirements to customers and suppliers.
• Coordinate needs, deadlines, and schedule impact with internal/external partners.
• Handle department quoting and invoice management, resolving pricing discrepancies.
• Identify errors and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• All other duties as assigned.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Ensuring materials, equipment, supplies, and/or services are obtained and delivered with the most favorable terms for the organization.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare, process, and approve purchase orders for inventoried items with unlimited expense amounts
• Resolve shortages
• Communicate and coordinate business unit’s requirements to customers and suppliers
• i.e. needs, deadlines, impact to schedule, available alternatives
• Includes internal and external customers/suppliers
• Commitment to expediting, prioritizing, and planning for the business unit's needs
• Identifying and resolving errors
• Department specific quoting
• Invoice management, including resolution of discrepancies in pricing and receiving transactions.
• All other duties as assigned

OTHER POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

• Authority to approve and process purchase orders with unlimited inventory items, and with limited oversight from supervision.
• Some travel (up to 25%) may be required.
• Specific assignments may have additional travel requirements
• Must be customer service oriented
• Must be able to maintain company confidentiality
• Should be able to handle stress and deadlines
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives

Basic Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 4-year Degree preferred.
• OR-
• High School Diploma or equivalent required and
• Experience required:
• External: 7 years applicable experience.
• Internal: 6 years applicable experience with at least 2 of those years with Altec, Supply Chain Functions preferred.
• Applicable Masters or APICS Certification counts as one year of experience, not to exceed one year in total.
• AND -
• Microsoft Office suite experience required.
• Knowledge of supply chain principles and concepts required.
• ERP system experience preferred.

Experience Level Adjustment

Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.
