Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc is hiring for an assembly technician to prepare, assemble and install vehicle and/or chipper components across multiple departments. You will read schematics, interpret blueprints, and follow work orders to ensure precise assembly while adhering to safety policies.

You will use basic tools and PPE, participate in continuous improvement initiatives, and may move to different areas to meet production needs. Strong reading skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Vocational training may substitute for experience.
  • Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install vehicle/chipper components per specs.
  • Read and interpret work orders and schematics.
  • Use PPE and operate hand tools safely.
  • Cross-train and move to other work areas as needed to support production.
  • Maintain clean work area and time records.

Job description

Responsibilities
Purpose of Position

To prepare, assemble and install vehicle and/or chipper components to required specifications for Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Unit and/or Finish departments.

Major Responsibilities
  • Use and conduct proper care of PPE
  • Read and interpret schematics (blueprints)
  • Read and interpret work orders
  • Use basic hand tools such as tape measurer and specialty equipment
  • Learn and operator all equipment within the work area (cell)
  • Perform rework as required
  • Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives. May participate in RCI events
  • Willing to move to other work areas in order to support production needs. (Cross-train)
  • Install unit vehicle and/or chipper components and accessories
  • Testing of installed components
  • Follow established safety, environmental and quality policies, procedures and practices
  • Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment
  • Maintain daily time records
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend required.
  • Basic computer usage knowledge desired
  • Vocational Training in lieu of experience will be considered.
  • Ability to read tape measures, blue prints, and schematics desired.
  • General knowledge of at least one of the following desired
    • Mechanical
    • Hydraulics
    • Electrical
    • Manufacturing / Production processes
