Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc. is seeking a manufacturing associate in Daleville, VA to prepare, assemble and install vehicle components in a fast-paced shop. You will read schematics, interpret blueprints and work orders, use basic tools, maintain a safe workspace, and support multiple departments as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, English literacy, and willingness to learn. Training and potential cross-training opportunities are available within Altec's production system.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Basic computer usage is desirable.
  • Vocational training can substitute for experience.
  • Ability to read tape measures and schematics is preferred.
  • Knowledge in mechanical, hydraulics, electrical or manufacturing concepts is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, assemble and install vehicle and/or chipper components.
  • Read and interpret schematics and work orders.
  • Use basic hand tools and PPE correctly.
  • Move between work areas as needed to support production.
  • Test installed components and ensure quality.
  • Maintain clean work area and daily time records.

Responsibilities

STARTING PAY: $22.77/hr.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To prepare, assemble and install vehicle and/or chipper components to required specifications for Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Unit and Finish departments.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Use and conduct proper care of PPE
  • Read and interpret schematics (blueprints)
  • Read and interpret work orders
  • Use basic hand tools such as tape measurer and specialty equipment
  • Learn and operateall equipment within the work area (cell)
  • Perform rework as required
  • Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives. May participate in RCI events
  • Willing to move to other work areas in order to support production needs. (Cross-train)
  • Install unit vehicle and/or chipper components and accessories
  • Testing of installed components
  • Follow established safety, environmental and quality policies, procedures and practices
  • Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment
  • Maintain daily time records
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English is required.
  • Basic computer usage knowledge desired
  • Vocational Training in lieu of experience will be considered.
  • Ability to read tape measures, blue prints, and schematics desired.
  • General knowledge of at least one of the following desired
    • Mechanical
    • Hydraulics
    • Electrical
    • Manufacturing / Production processes
