Job summary

Miller Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled welder to join our team in Tennessee. You will weld metal parts with gas welding equipment as specified by blueprints and verify bead size and specifications.

The role requires the ability to read AWS blueprints, perform physical tasks, and wear PPE including PAPR’s. We offer a four-on, four-off schedule with day shift opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job including climbing ladders, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and standing for long periods.
  • Must be able to wear PPE including PAPR’s and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Welds metal parts with gas welding equipment as specified by blueprints.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Repairs broken or cracked metal objects and builds up metal parts.
  • Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.
  • Reads AWS blueprints and performs required weld procedures.

Summary:

Welds metal parts with gas welding equipment as specified by blueprints by performing the following duties.

  • Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts.
  • Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.
  • Scarfs or grooves weld prior to applying filler metal.
  • Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
  • Cleans or degreases parts.
  • Ability to MIG weld.
  • Ability to read AWS blue prints.
  • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job including climbing step ladders, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and standing for long periods of time.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to work a schedule of four days on, then four days off.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Requires standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to wear required PPE including PAPR’s
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

Benefits: ( Beginning on 91 st day one of employment unless stated otherwise)

  • Day Shift opportunities available Second shift employees receive a $1.50/hr premium (where applicable)
  • 4-on 4-off schedule; off half of the weekends during the year
  • Double time paid for work on Sundays (regardless of whether 40 hrs. have been reached in the work week)
