Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Weld Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Material Science (emphasis on weld processes) desired.
• Minimum 1–3 years' experience as a weld engineer or additive manufacturing research.
• Strong knowledge of AWS/ASME standards and welding processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the welding program (AWS, ASME and others).
• Provide on-floor support to welders and engineering team members.
• Work with NDT to develop and sustain weld inspection program.
• Develop, write, and ensure execution of manufacturing procedures.
• Submit customer-facing work procedures for new/repaired products.
• Review process and welder qualification samples with materials lab for quality.
• Interpret industry and customer specifications and communicate requirements.
• Teach welding concepts to office and shop staff.
• Troubleshoot using a scientific approach and drive corrective actions.
• Perform failure analysis and disposition of welds, lead corrective actions.
• Research and development for process improvement and new products with cross-functional teams.
• Serve as technology SME in welding and additive manufacturing.
• Oversee supplier qualification when appropriate and represent in industry organizations.
