Job summary

Ocean Community YMCA is hiring Welcome Center Staff at the Westerly-Pawcatuck branch for part-time, non-exempt work. Evening and weekend hours and an hourly rate of $16.25 are offered.

The Welcome Center is the first contact point for members and guests, reflecting the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. You will greet members, handle inquiries, registrations, check-ins, and provide program information while ensuring a welcoming, safe, and organized environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with membership software is a plus.
• Reliable, punctual, with strong attention to detail.
• Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain (YMCA training).

Responsibilities

• Greet members and guests with warmth and professionalism.
• Assist with membership inquiries, registrations, and check-ins.
• Answer phone calls and provide accurate information about programs and services.
• Handle cash and credit card transactions.
• Maintain a clean and organized Welcome Center area.
• Enforce YMCA policies in a respectful and consistent manner.
• Respond to member concerns or incidents, escalating when necessary.
• Support program and facility staff by communicating member needs and scheduling updates.

The Ocean Community YMCA now has part-time opportunities at the Welcome Center at the Westerly-Pawcatuck branch. Evening and weekend hours available.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $16.25 per hour.

The Welcome Center Staff Member is the first point of contact for members and guests, helping to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment that reflects the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. This role ensures excellent customer service, handles membership-related tasks, and supports safe and smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet members and guests with warmth and professionalism
• Assist with membership inquiries, registrations, and check-ins
• Answer phone calls and provide accurate information about YMCA programs and services
• Handle cash and credit card transactions
• Maintain a clean and organized Welcome Center area
