Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse, NY is seeking a Full-Time Client Care Specialist for the 3rd shift in our Syracuse Emergency Shelter. You will support individuals experiencing homelessness, helping create a safe, respectful environment where clients access resources and work toward stability.

This direct-care role focuses on human services, crisis support, and connecting clients with Rescue Mission resources.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Human Services or related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, mental health challenges, or other barriers is desired.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, professional relationships with clients.
• Provide support, encouragement, and motivation while helping clients maintain or build independence.
• Treat all clients with respect, dignity, and compassion.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients.
• Help create a safe, supportive, and welcoming shelter environment.
• Conduct regular rounds and monitor the facility to support client safety.
• Assist clients with basic needs, including personal care items and bedding.
• Respond to client concerns and challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
• Reinforce shelter guidelines and expectations respectfully and consistently.
• Connect clients with appropriate Rescue Mission services and resources.
• Conduct drug and breathalyzer testing when required.
• Document important client information while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
• Communicate relevant information with team members and participate in meetings.
• Complete required training within 30 days of assignment.

Client Care Specialist 3rd Shift – Full Time- Emergency Shelter

Schedule: Friday – Monday: 9:00pm- 7:30am

Rate of pay: $18.50 per hour + Shift Differential + Weekend Warrior

3rd Shift Differential: Additional $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 9:00 PM–7:30 AM

Weekend Warrior (only scheduled shifts Friday-Monday): Additional $1.00 per hour
