Job summary

The New York Historical seeks a part-time Visitor Services Supervisor to oversee admissions, coat check, and the call center. You will report to the Director of Visitor Services and supervise 15–20 staff, while training new hires and coordinating daily operations on Fridays through Sundays.

This role emphasizes accurate cash handling, outstanding customer service, and clear communication with the public and coworkers in a busy museum setting. Up to 24 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1–2 years supervisory experience in a museum or related retail.
• Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with retail and database software; Tessitura a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication; professional interaction with the public and coworkers.
• Effective presentation and training skills for groups.

Responsibilities

• Oversee admissions desk, coat check, switchboard, and call center.
• Train associates and supervise 15–20 visitor services staff.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee department work with the director.
• Address visitor complaints and resolve issues promptly.
