Job summary

University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks a Medical Technician I to join the Specimen Processing department. The role focuses on accurate accessioning and processing of patient specimens, preparing slides and reagents, and ensuring specimen integrity for testing.

You will operate clinical laboratory instrumentation, perform QC and calibration, manage supplies, and support reference lab testing as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Three years in a clinical medical laboratory or similar setting (degree preferred).

Responsibilities

• Accession and process specimens, document special handling.
• Prepare slides and specimens for testing and reagent preparation.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation with QC/calibration.
• Perform inventory and restock supplies to support shifts.
• Provide strong customer service and teamwork in a busy clinical environment.
• Train staff, students, and fellows on established procedures.
