Susan B. Anthony Project in Torrington, CT is seeking a Per Diem advocate to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Shifts vary including evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays; on-site at the shelter location.

Formación

• Education and experience through relevant training, employment, or volunteer work.
• Knowledge of counseling and social services.
• Ability to understand dynamics of domestic and sexual violence at work.
• Training - certification as DV/SA counselor per statute.
• Willingness to work as part of a team to improve agency communication.
• Strong problem solving, communication and follow-up skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related programs.
• Positive communications and conflict resolution abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with other agencies and volunteers.
• Daily car access with a valid CT driver's license.
• Capable of lifting/moving 25 pounds.
• Patience and a sense of humor.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinate with staff to provide crisis line coverage 24/7/365, including nights and weekends.
• Provide supportive counseling, advocacy, referral and follow-up for clients.
• Complete shelter screenings and intakes within 24 hours.
• Welcome and orient new residents.
• Support residents in achieving short and long-term goals.
• Conduct case management meetings.
• Coordinate and facilitate client house meetings for shelter and TLP.
• Assist residents in transitions to new living situations with referrals and deposits.
• Prepare rooms and maintain a safe, clean shelter environment.
• Accompany victims to hospital, police or court as needed; provide advocacy.
• Stay informed of services, resources, legislation and policies.
• Maintain referrals with community organizations.
• Co-facilitate support groups and arrange childcare when needed.
• Assist with community education and in-services.
• Provide information and support for Victim Compensation funds.
• Maintain service data and statistics.
• Participate in supervision and advocate meetings.
• TLP office hours and safety inspections of units/building.
• Prepare TLP apartments for new residents after exits.
• Complete paperwork and reports accurately to meet deadlines.
• Coordinate with Shelter Manager on building maintenance.
• Represent Susan B. Anthony Project at events and programs.
• Other duties as assigned to support agency mission.
