Job summary

St. James Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Holtsville, NY is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist to join a skilled nursing team. The RT will evaluate and treat residents independently, provide bedside care, and participate in IDT meetings to support geriatric patients.

Candidate must hold a state license as RRT or CRT and be BLS certified. Schedule includes Saturday and Sunday coverage with responsibilities across assessments, therapies, documentation, and equipment management.

Qualifications

• Graduate of COARC accredited AS or BS Respiratory program.
• Licensed as RRT or CRT in practicing state.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Completes assessments and implements Respiratory technique to maintain or rehab patient with many different Respiratory illness/diseases.
• Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, operate, check, and assemble equipment.
• Complete a variety of bedside treatments.
• Complete in-services for nursing staff every quarter.
• Responsible for completing daily, weekly and monthly documentation.
• Attend applicable IDT meetings.
• Experience with tracheotomy.
• Experience is a long term care setting.
• Follow procedure and protocol of facility.
• Completes tracking, auditing and caseload management.
• Performs related duties as required.
