Job summary

St. James Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Bohemia, NY is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist to cover Saturday and Sunday shifts in a skilled nursing facility.

The ideal candidate will be licensed (RRT or CRT) in the state, possess BLS, and be able to work independently while supporting geriatric residents with respiratory care and therapeutic activities. Responsibilities include assessments, initiating therapies, bedside treatments, documentation, and active participation in IDT

Qualifications

• Graduate of COARC accredited AS or BS Respiratory program.
• Licensed as RRT or CRT.
• Licensed in the state in which practicing; BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Completes assessments and implements respiratory techniques to treat patients with various respiratory illnesses.
• Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, operate, check, and assemble equipment.
• Complete a variety of bedside treatments.
• Provide in-services for nursing staff quarterly.
• Maintain daily, weekly and monthly documentation.
• Attend applicable IDT meetings.
• Experience with tracheotomy.
• Experience in long-term care setting.
• Follow facility procedures and protocols.
• Performs tracking, auditing and caseload management.
