Job summary

St. James Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in New York (Lake Ronkonkoma region) is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join a skilled nursing facility team. The candidate must hold an active license in the state and be able to evaluate and treat independently to improve residents' experiences.

The role includes initiating therapies, maintaining records, and performing various bedside treatments, with Saturday and Sunday coverage. Prior LTC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of COARC accredited AS or BS Respiratory program.
• Licensed as RRT or CRT in state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory assessments and therapies.
• Initiate therapies and manage equipment in patient care.
• Perform bedside treatments to support respiratory function.
• Lead quarterly nursing in-services for staff.
• Maintain daily, weekly and monthly documentation.
• Attend Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings.
• Experience with tracheotomy patients in LTC.
• Experience in long-term care settings.
• Follow facility procedures and protocols.
• Track, audit and manage caseloads.
• Perform related duties as required.
